New disability awareness qualification launched

Awarding body Education Development International (EDI) has developed a level one qualification in disability awareness.

The qualification aims to assist organisations in complying with current legislation on disability and also to develop an individual employee's understanding of disability.

Gareth Phillips, business development director at EDI, said: "EDI has developed this qualification in response to the increasing need for disability awareness for both employers and employees.

"This award will encourage those that study for it to gain an understanding of disability and the barriers that many disabled people experience every day. EDI will continue to offer qualifications that benefit all in the workplace and we are currently looking to develop further levels in the Disability Awareness qualification."

The qualification is nine guided learning hours in duration and is assessed through one multiple choice, paper based or online test.
