Brendan Barber opens learning centre

TUC general secretary Brendan Barber opened the TUC Education Unit at Huntingdonshire Regional College on Friday 15th June.

Over 250 union reps have been trained the college from a range of unions in Cambridgeshire.

Brendan Barber was joined by Anne Constantine, principal of the college; Les Bayliss, assistant general secretary of Unite; and Peter Kelly, course coordinator.

Brendan Barber said: "The union reps trained at Huntingdonshire College have had a huge impact in workplaces all over Cambridgeshire and have undoubtedly changed many union members' lives for the better.

"Here in Cambridgeshire there is a real job of organising and educating to be done and the College is playing an important role in training the reps who will be going out to help working people throughout the county."
