New TUC Education Centre opens in London

A new TUC Education Centre will be officially opened in London later today.

The centre, near Liverpool Street station, will be opened by Brendan Barber, TUC general secretary, Bob Crow, general secretary, RMT, and Richard Bolsin, general secretary of the Workers Education Association (WEA).

Brendan Barber said: "I am delighted to open this learning centre, the result of an excellent partnership between unionlearn with TUC Education and the WEA. It will open up thousands of opportunities for trade union members to improve their skills, improve their employability, and improve their life chances."

Bob Crow, general secretary of the RMT said: "The WEA has a great tradition of providing education for many RMT members and I am delighted that many more trade unionists will be able to benefit from this new unionlearn learning centre.

"Education is a vital part of ensuring that everyone is able to play their part in society and to enable them to progress and move up in life."

Richard Bolsin, WEA general secretary said: "It’s great for the WEA to be working with the TUC and unionlearn to strengthen the support and education we provide for London’s trade unionists. Union learning is having a significant impact on workplace education and we are delighted to be playing a part in this."
