VSO marketing adviser Rowena Harding said that the event also presents volunteering as a professional development opportunity for those volunteering. "Research from the Chartered Management Institute has shown that 94% of employers agree that long-term overseas voluntary activity broadens skills and experiences. By talking to returned volunteers at the Information Day, people will realise how much volunteering can benefit them as well as the organisations they volunteer to assist." The charity's Information Day takes place in Putney on February 23rd 2008 and aims to give professionals from the business and charity sectors information on volunteering placements in the 34 countries where VSO operates. VSO says attendees will find out more about the charity’s work, hear from returned volunteers and talk to staff about placements and opportunities. VSO hopes to attract managers, fundraisers, finance and HR Directors, small business advisors, IT professionals and more to urgently fill a range of short- and long- term volunteering opportunities. The information day is free although participants are requested to register in advance.
