Home > News > July 2004 > 14-Jul-2004 Ufi announces new sector hub operators for national learndirect e-learning networkUfi, the government-funded organisation which has developed the learndirect e-learning network, has announced the successful bidders for the planning and delivery of learndirect services in England and Wales for 10 industry sectors for the two-year period from 1 August 2004. Known as hub operators', the six organisations will work closely with the relevant Sector Skills Council to plan and deliver learndirect e-learning and learning information and advice services in order to respond to the sectors' skills development priorities. The six organisations which will be responsible for the delivery of learndirect in the nine sectors are:
Ufi Executive Director Helen Milner, commented: "70,000 people working in specific industry sectors have improved their skills for work with learndirect over the last four years, taking, between them, more than 180,000 learndirect courses. The new sector hub partnerships we are announcing today will enable Ufi to continue to work effectively with sectors to contribute to the government's adult skills agenda by delivering innovative, high-quality learning through the use of new technologies."
