Home > News > September 2004 > 15-Sep-2004 In brief...Pathlore Software Corporation acquires DKSystems Learning management software and services company Pathlore has acquired Chicago-based DKSystems. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. According to DKSystems' founder and CEO, Dave Kripke, and Pathlore Software Corporation CEO and President, Steve Thomas, both companies share a common approach to the market in terms of building quality solutions, while minimising total cost of ownership. Kripke added: "DKSystems believes its customers are in good hands with Pathlore." Thomas said: "We intend to continue to deliver world-class support for DKSystems' products, and deliver the next generation LMS to DKSystems' customers whenever that update makes sense for them. We will incorporate the best of DKSystems' technology into the Pathlore LMS." Pathlore will add Chicago-based development, sales, services and support staff to its operations, leveraging existing DKSystems' staff and facilities.
Trainer1 expands into new London headquarters Trainer1 is moving to a new London headquarters from 18th September 2004. The newly built premises at Kimberley Road, NW6, are considerably larger than Trainer1's old premises in Edgware and provide expanded space for Trainer1's development work. "Our approach to producing learning materials - encompassing both formal and informal learning, delivered as required and within a particular business context to exactly meet learners' needs - is increasingly finding favour within the public and private sectors in the UK and also in Continental Europe", said Neil Lasher, Trainer1's managing director. "Last year, the value of our sales rose by 30 per cent and in the first quarter of this year, sales rose - compared with the first quarter of last year - by 40 per cent." LSDA announces the appointment of its new chief executive Andrew Thomson has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Learning and Skills Development Agency (LSDA). The appointment was announced yesterday by Sir Geoffrey Holland, chair of LSDA. Thomson will take up his post on 1st January 2005. He succeeds Chris Hughes who retires as LSDA's chief executive at the end of "I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to make a major contribution to the future of post-16 education and training and lead the Learning and Skills Development Agency into its next phase", said Thomson. "I am fortunate in taking over a successful and growing organisation that is wellrespected both by policy makers and practitioners, and look forward to building on the outstanding work that Chris Hughes has done over the past six years."
