Home > News > October 2004 > 06-Oct-2004 In brief...Double nomination for Above and Beyond The organisers of the World of Learning Conference and Exhibition 2004 have announced that Above and Beyond's CD Rom/e-learning course 'Ten Ways to Avoid Death by PowerPoint' has been short listed for World of Learning Awards Generic Solution of the Year. In addition, Above and Beyond director Clive Shepherd has been short listed for World of Learning Awards Outstanding Contribution to the Training Industry. The award ceremony takes place at the World of Learning Conference and Exhibition (WOLCE) Gala dinner on the 17th November.
InterQuad opens in Edinburgh IT training provider InterQuad Learning has announced the opening of a training centre in Edinburgh. The new centre has twelve fully equipped classrooms, providing space for over 100 delegates. The Edinburgh facility brings the number of Interquad locations across the UK to 11. InterQuad is a Microsoft Gold Partner and a Citrix Authorised Learning Centre. Other key technologies supported by InterQuad Learning include Oracle, Lotus, Novell, UNIX, Linux and programming languages (C, C++, Java, Web tools).
New research appointment at Ashridge Dr. Bette Baldwin, Head of Public Involvement at NHS Direct Online has joined the Ashridge Leadership Centre in a part time research capacity. Dr Baldwin will be spending a part time, one year sabbatical at the Ashridge Leadership Centre, part of Ashridge Business School, to carry out research on leadership in the public sector. The research, focusing on the 'Leadership skills required for the successful policy implementation of consumerism in the public services' will be subsequently shared in a series of papers, articles and conferences. "The Ashridge Leadership Centre was established to ensure that Ashridge remains at the forefront of leadership thinking and learning. We are therefore delighted that Dr Baldwin will be joining the team to work with us on this research. As the UK's largest employer, the NHS faces unprecedented challenges. This research project is designed to provide insights into the skills needed by leaders throughout the NHS and we look forward to a valuable contribution from Bette," said Gene Horan, Director of the Ashridge Leadership Centre.
