Saba launches new human capital management suite

Saba has announced the availability of Saba Enterprise 2005, its new human capital management product suite.

According to Saba, Saba Enterprise 2005 is designed to solve a fundamental problem facing large enterprises in the commercial and public sectors: the alignment of people and their competencies with organisational goals.

“Saba’s focus is on managing cross-functional, strategic people processes. Enterprises can extend the value of existing ERP applications with Saba’s front office HCM solution and generate superior results,” said Bobby Yazdani, Saba Chairman and CEO.

VEGA helps NHS Trust implement competency development framework

VEGA Group is helping the Salford Royal Hospitals NHS Trust to pilot the implementation of its management and leadership competency development framework.

The management and leadership framework is designed to assist managers and their staff in identifying their training and development needs, in terms of delivering quality patient and customer care across the health populations. It also aims to enable managers and leaders to achieve the objectives of the Trust's corporate plan and to enable managers to manage people more effectively.

As part of the project, VEGA is delivering a leadership competency programme entitled ‘Coaching for Success’. The programme aims to empower the Trust's senior clinical staff to develop the individual potential of both themselves and each member of their department.

Survey: 93% of European universities plan to expand their use of e-learning over the next two years

Almost all universities plan to expand their use of e-learning over the next two years according to a survey commissioned by WebCT, and a further 74% said e-learning already plays a major role across a majority of university courses, or believe it will within the next three years.

Carol Vallone, WebCT president and CEO, said, "We are seeing a sharp increase in customer demand in Europe because of a transition in thinking around e-learning. Universities are becoming increasingly student centric across Europe as they compete for student enrolment. They now recognise e-learning as a way to make learning more effective and therefore provide students with a richer educational experience."

Anne Trotter, Deputy Associate Dean of Education Practice Development, Homerton School of Health Studies, Cambridge said, "We are in the early stages of e-learning development, however, we are aiming to increase student flexibility and to maximise their access to resources, communication tools and high quality, educationally robust learning materials.

WebCT surveyed 150 representatives across its customer base from European universities.
