In brief...

The Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC) appoints National Manager for Wales

Based in Cardiff, Hall’s objective is to work with employers and organisations to reduce skills gaps and tackle future demands within the financial services sector within Wales.

Prior to his appointment with the FSSC, Hall was Investment Manager at Principality Building Society. He was previously Area Training Manager for Royal London Insurance. Hall is a graduate in Financial Services and holds an Advanced Financial Planning Certificate.

FSSC Business Development and Research Director, Mary Greene, says: "Chris has invaluable experience of the training needs within the industry coupled with sound financial services knowledge. I am confident that he will successfully continue and build upon all the hard work achieved to date on the FSSC's development in Wales."

Scotland six opt for Trainer1

Six of the largest Councils in Scotland are now using Trainer1 to train and support their in-house e-learning development staff.

Trainer1's managing director, Neil Lasher said: "It began when a group of Councils, including Renfrewshire, Inverclyde and West Dunbartonshire, from the West of Scotland Health & Safety Forum, joined forces to purchase Trainer1's e-learning toolkit training. One of the group's aims was to develop some health & safety-related e-learning materials - and that meant that they needed some authoring tools and the expertise to use them.

"We supplied the authoring tools - Trivantis' Lectora and our own toolkit - and trained their users. Fife Council, in East Scotland, also sent a representative to this training course and, enthused by the course, contacted Aberdeenshire Council and asked Trainer1 to offer the same training to both Councils' e-learning developers."

In addition to these five Councils, Trainer1 is also working with North Lanarkshire Council.
