At the same time the number of VMware Authorised Training Centres (VATCs) has grown to over 15. Launched in July 2003, the VCP certification programme was designed for technology professionals within VMware customer or partner organisations, resellers or consultants. The programme aims to provide them with the knowledge, skills, and credentials to deploy and maintain VMware virtual infrastructure technology. Once an individual has completed the training, which is provided at a VATC, they take an exam at one of more than 3,400 Pearson VUE Authorised Test Centres worldwide. Mark Stradling, VP EMEA, VMware comments "The number of VCPs and momentum behind our VATC partners in just a year is another indicator of how VMware is becoming entrenched in the enterprise data centre. Virtual infrastructure is no longer 'the next big thing,' it has already become an integral part of the IT strategy for most companies. The VCP program offers IT professionals the opportunity to become part of this and help their organisations gain the enormous benefits that virtual infrastructure delivers."
