The revision will be completed by year end. "You have to know server hardware to be an effective server technician, and we significantly increased the certification's focus on hardware technology, including security," said Guy Dupuis, director of operations at Bits and Bytes Enterprises and chairman of the Server+ subject-matter experts committee. "By studying for and earning the Server+ certification, technicians can credibly demonstrate a detailed understanding of the entire life-cycle of servers. This knowledge should increase server uptime." The following table compares the 2001 exam objectives to the 2004 objectives.
* 2004 Figures rounded "I believe the next 10,000 technicians to earn CompTIA Server+ are going to come away knowing that they passed a rigorous exam and reached a significant mid-level career milestone," said Gene Salois, vice president, Certification at CompTIA. "Employers will to be able to count on Server+ as a valid indicator of on-the-job competence leading to greater server uptime and higher customer satisfaction."
