CompTIA Security+ certification passes new milestone

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) has announced that more than 20,000 IT professionals worldwide have attained its CompTIA Security+ certification.

CompTIA said the 20,000-certified milestone was surpassed in late October with individuals in more than 110 countries now holding Security+ certification.

"CompTIA Security+ certification has attained wide acceptance across multiple industries, and among organisations of all sizes,” said Neill Hopkins, vice president, skills development, CompTIA.

"Decision makers in these organisations have realised they can no longer afford to underestimate the threat that IT security breaches pose to their operations. They understand that security preparedness is a process that has as its foundation CompTIA Security+ certification."

CompTIA says the Security+ certification is intended for individuals with two years of on-the-job networking and security experience – a person typically responsible for hands-on tasks such as installation, support and upgrades to an organisation’s IT security infrastructure.
