The BCS says SFIAplus version 3 contains 17 new and updated skills with emphasis on business change, wireless and web technology, service management, security, IT governance and compliance. Malcolm Sillars, head of BCS professional development, said: "This third BCS revision of SFIAplus is the result of a wide range of input from government and industry following an extensive consultation process. "It is completely aligned with SFIA (Skills Framework for the Information Age) and includes additional training and development detail for all 78 IT skills and 263 tasks described within the framework. "It has also developed considerable extra strength in the areas of business change, wireless and web technology, service management (ITIL), security and IT governance and compliance through its 17 new and updated skills." The BCS says SFIAplus version 3 also includes closer mapping of skill tasks with ISEB/BCS qualifications. "The updated standard will support the progress of the UK's IT sector towards the standards of professionalism demanded from other professions like engineering, financial services and law," said Sillars.
