IT Job Describer, developed in conjunction with BCS partner InfoBasis, is a browser-based system designed to help businesses create IT job descriptions, and identify skills, training and experience against the BCS's SFIAplus IT skills training and development standard. The BCS says users can create job descriptions covering a wide range of IT sectors and levels, from entry to senior personnel and each job description can be customised to suit individual business requirements. BCS head of professional development Malcolm Sillars said: "For any professional, working to industry standards and employing best practice are key elements in the smooth and efficient running of business; by using IT Job Describer businesses demonstrate their commitment to professionalism in IT." InfoBasis CEO Ashley Wheaton added: "This is a milestone in InfoBasis' long-standing relationship with the BCS. IT Job Describer will benefit both individuals and organisations by showing clearly what skills IT jobs require, and encouraging smarter deployment of professional staff."
