ECDL launched in Welsh

The British Computing Society (BCS) is supporting the Welsh Assembly's Cymru Ar-lein programme to encourage the development of basic ICT skills and understanding throughout Wales. Its European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is now available in the Welsh language, the result of a collaborative initiative between Bangor University and the BCS.

E-Minister for the Welsh Assembly Government Andrew Davies described the launch as an exciting development in the drive to increase awareness and use of ICT throughout Wales.

"The Welsh Assembly Government's strategy ‘Cymru Arlein - Online for a Better Wales' sets out the importance of ICT for the future prosperity of Wales. In recognising the importance both of e-learning and the Welsh language, the Welsh-medium ECDL will make a valuable contribution to the work of the Welsh Assembly Government."
