Innovative Teachers is a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme designed specifically for the teaching profession. The programme provides training to help teachers integrate Information Communications Technology (ICT) into the learning process, with the aim of spreading best practice and teaching innovation. Membership is completely free to any teacher that wants to sign up, and participants in the programme are encouraged to gain accreditation as part of their commitment to CPD. "By bringing together a community of teachers who are able to learn from and inspire each other, the Innovative Teachers programme enables teachers to use technology resources to help make learning interesting and engaging for students," says David Burrows, Director of Education, Microsoft UK. "Gaining accreditation is an important element of professional development, and teachers have told us that IC3 is extremely useful when it comes to demonstrating ICT skills." "The Innovative Teachers programme provides valuable professional development that improves learning," says David Saedi, president for Certiport. "Because of the rigorous process through which IC3 continues to be developed, teachers in the programme are assured that the skills addressed by the training materials and certification are relevant and current."
