London Borough of Redbridge IT courses are "outstanding" says ALI

The Adult Learning Inspectorate has awarded the London Borough of Redbridge adult education service a highest grade 1 “outstanding” for its Information and Communication Technology programme.

Redbridge Institute of Adult Education, located in Gants Hill in Ilford, also notched up a grade 2 “good” for its Health, Social Care and Public Services and Visual and Performing Arts and Media programmes. According to the ALI, inspectors were also impressed by the firm’s approach to equality of opportunity and awarded a grade 2 "good" to this area of learning.

Principal Michael Briggs said: "I am particularly pleased to see the positive remarks made by the students. It is also rewarding for myself and my staff to read the inspector’s conclusions – they say that we are very effective in our efforts to widen participation and create effective partnerships. The report also recommends some improvements and I am confident that we will achieve them."

Councillor Mark Aaron, Cabinet Member for Culture and Community Learning said: "It is very gratifying to receive public recognition for the work we have done in widening participation from under-represented groups."

David Sherlock, Chief Inspector at the Adult Learning Inspectorate said: "ALI inspectors make an independent assessment so we are really pleased to report that learners at Redbridge Institute of Adult Education are benefiting from the organisation’s high quality approach. When people improve their skills and achieve their qualifications they benefit their organisation, their communities and themselves."
