SumTotal joins Google Enterprise Professional programme

SumTotal Systems has announced it has joined the Google Enterprise Professional programme.

As a partner in the program, SumTotal says it is integrating the Google Search Appliance within its learning management enterprise suite.

The company says that by launching a Google search from the SumTotal Enterprise Suite 7.2, SumTotal's government and commercial customers will have an easy and accessible hub for tapping into:

  • Classroom and online instruction, activities and materials
  • Informal learning such as presentations, case studies and spreadsheets
  • Assessments of employee performance

SumTotal says its clients will be able to rely on Google's search to find information sitting in legacy, mainframe and relational databases. It says employees can quickly recover information wherever it's stored across the enterprise and deliver that data where it's needed most.

"Formal training and learning content is only a part of the information people need to gain the insight and knowledge required for their jobs," said Jon Ciampi, vice president of marketing for SumTotal.

"As a result of SumTotal's partnership with Google, our customers now have a single point of access to their respective companies' knowledge bases. The joint solution will allow customers to quickly extract the data they need to develop and buttress online courses, new-hire training, education around product launches, or any formal learning and development efforts."

Kevin Smith, programme manager for Google Enterprise Professional, said: "Google is excited to have SumTotal as a partner in the Google Enterprise Professional program. We're looking forward to bringing the power of Google search to users of talent, learning and business performance software."
