Home > News > August 2005 > 16-Aug-2005 Drama helps develop leaders at the National Audit OfficeThe National Audit Office is using drama-based training as part of a programme to develop its next generation of leaders. Called the Accelerated Development Programme, the three-and-a-half day event covers communication skills, strategic thinking, personal resilience, personal impact and influencing, coaching and motivating others and Emotional Intelligence. During the programme, drama-based training provider Steps Drama is running role plays of different scenarios that an Audit Manager might encounter. The audience members coach the characters to help them improve their performance. The programme has run three times and will run three more times before the end of 2006. According to the National Audit Office, the training has already had a tangible impact. Sixty-four people attended the first three programmes. Of these, 39 have subsequently been promoted.
