The Advanced Leadership Programme is one of a new suite of leadership development programmes commissioned by the Tomorrow's Leaders Group of the Civil Service Management Board. National School programme director Dr Winston Sutherland said: "We've designed the programme to allow those involved to step back from the everyday pressure and rethink their approaches to leadership while gaining powerful new personal and organisational perspectives. "Good leadership is central to the push for Professional Skills for Government, and we're confident that when our participants leave us they will take with them tools, techniques and behaviours that significantly increase their effectiveness as leaders." The modular programme, typically completed over a 12-15 month period, is designed for members of the Senior Civil Service at Assistant Director (Pay Band 1) level two years into post. Themes covered in the programme include:
The National School says participants will be encouraged to develop and apply their leadership skills in direct response to real organisational challenges, and to the issues confronting the public service as a whole.
