The sector skills council for retail says the guide details all levels of qualifications available, ranging from NVQs/SVQs, to apprenticeships, through to higher education qualifications. It also looks at how new qualifications such as the Diploma in Retail, available from 2010, will fit into the current framework. The guide also aims to simplify the vast range of qualifications and learning programmes available to those working or wanting to work in the sector and clarify the kind of roles each route might lead to. Beverley Paddey, head of qualifications and standards at Skillsmart Retail, said: "Each of the UK Nations has separate government-led educational policies which have resulted in courses and qualifications being named differently. We hope that by providing this easy-to-use guide, which matches qualifications in each of the nations with their corresponding job roles, retailers, learning providers and individuals will be able to see the kind of job roles to which each of the nations' qualifications and learning programmes relate." Skillsmart Retail says copies of the Guide are available in PDF format on their website at http://www.skillsmartretail.com Training Reference is not responsible for the content of external Internet sites.
