The Diploma in Retail has been developed in partnership with Skills for Logistics, the Council for Administration and Automotive Skills. The Diploma is among 17 linked to different industry subject areas that are being introduced by the government to run alongside GCSEs, A-levels and apprenticeships. Diplomas aim to combine study with workplace experience and employer-based learning for 14-19 year-olds. Diploma steering group member Phil Streatfield, commercial supply chain & IT director at Woolworths, said: "Retail is the biggest sector employer in Britain - it's a fun, people-oriented profession. The Diploma is a golden opportunity to help young people understand it better and give those who want a retail career a head start, whether they enter it from school or post-university." This year the Diploma's development partnership says it will be working with awarding bodies to produce final qualifications, with partnerships between schools and local retailers being formed to enable the delivery of the Diploma from 2010. The content of the draft Diploma in Retail is available on the Skillsmart Retail website at: http://skillsmartretail.com/categories.php?pages_id=30 Training Reference is not responsible for the content of external Internet sites.
