IDM launches email marketing qualification

The Institute of Direct Marketing has launched a qualification specifically designed for email marketers.

The Award, developed in association with The Email Academy, will be delivered, by David Hughes M IDM and Mike Teasdale F IDM. The syllabus includes:

• The business case for email
• Email marketing technology infrastructure
• Data management techniques and technologies
• Best practice delivery guidelines
• Legal considerations
• Creativity in email marketing
• Integration of email with other on and offline activity
• Testing and measuring
• Email marketing management

Amanda Rogers, IDM qualifications director, said: "Email marketing continues to show a staggering rate of growth, which clearly demonstrates the important role it plays when budgets are squeezed ever tighter. But many email communications are poorly executed and the medium is often used insensitively. This new Award will provide the profession with a benchmark to distinguish those practitioners who are not only extremely able and knowledgeable but are committed to highest standards of practice."

Christopher Combemale, founder of The Email Academy added: "The Email Academy is pleased to have collaborated with the IDM on the Email Award. The IDM is respected worldwide for its Digital and Direct qualifications and appropriately has taken the lead in developing a specialised email qualification."

Applications are now invited for the initial IDM Email Marketing Award intakes, which begin in November.
