Learndirect business launches 'The Apprentice'

Hot on the heels of the highly popular and BAFTA award-winning television programme, 'The Apprentice', comes a new training programme from learndirect business based on the format of the show.

The programme is targeted at small to medium sized businesses and features a series of three DVD-ROMs, focusing on specific business skills.

Available from June, the DVD-ROMs are introduced by Nick Hewer, one of Sir Alan Sugar's senior aides from the TV show, and incorporate footage from the series to illustrate key points.

Sarah Jones, chief executive of Ufi, the company behind learndirect business, said: "The Apprentice has proved to be one of the most gripping programmes on television this year.

"The tasks that are set, as well as the confrontations with Sir Alan, have taught the various contestants a range of new skills. The use of these skills as themes throughout the training programme ensure that learndirect business is offering its customers a relevant, effective way to train staff."

DVD 1, 'Negotiating To Win' will be launched on the 12 June, followed by DVD 2, 'Leadership and Management' and DVD 3, 'Selling, Pitching and Presenting' on 12 July.

Learndirect business says learners will be set tasks, mimicking the style of the TV programme, and be put under pressure by simulated emails and mobile phone calls with reprimands for delays and poor responses.

Sarah Jones added: "The demands on all businesses mean that they need top quality, relevant training to ensure their staff gain the skills they need to help the business grow. We also know from our research that 65% of businesses believe effective training quickly translates into tangible business benefits.

"Learndirect business is offering its customers a cost effective way to train its staff in the workplace by keeping disruption to a minimum and not eating into the valuable working day."

Usually £75, learndirect business says the products will be available to order online at at an introductory offer of £50 per DVD-ROM until 10 August. Each will feature between 1.5 and 2 hours of material.

Learndirect business has been granted licensing rights for 'The Apprentice' by FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide (FLW). FLW is managing all ancillary rights for 'The Apprentice' worldwide (excluding the US ).

'The Apprentice' is produced in the UK by talkbackTHAMES, the UK production company owned by FremantleMedia. 'The Apprentice' is based on the hit US series of the same name and was originally created by Mark Burnett and produced for NBC by Mark Burnett Productions.
