Robin Yap, quality and excellence program manager at Accenture said it was important for Accenture to have a voice in global initiatives such as the CTT+ certification. "We wanted a required competency standard for our master instructors that was globally valid and respected," said Yap. "The global aspect was important to us because our employees and customers are not only diverse culturally, but also represent a wide range of jobs and industries. "The competencies required to earn the CTT+ certificate focus the instructor's efforts on recognizing each learner's needs and creating an optimum learning environment. This is a profound and productive approach for an instructor and one quite different from being viewed simply as a subject-matter expert who is charged with transferring information to adult learners." Accenture employ over 100,000 people in 110 offices in 48 countries. As a member of the advisory committee, they intend to provide feedback on the educational value and return on investment of certification, learn from others' experiences, and help guide the continued development of the certification. At Ricoh Corporation, CTT+ certification is a mandatory requirement for instructors to advance to the position of senior instructor. "Ricoh Corporation instructors have consistently received high marks on student evaluations," said Beverley Patterson, director education and training, Ricoh Corporation, solutions marketing. "Since CTT+ certification became a requirement to progressing to senior instructor, we've seen a substantial increase in learner satisfaction. We attribute much of that increase to the professional growth that comes through the process of training for and earning the CTT+ certificate." Patterson said the Ricoh Corporation, who employ more than 11,000 people in North, Central, and South America, will be providing feedback to the advisory committee on the impact the certification is having in the field. They also hope to become more aware of how CTT+ is being adapted on an ongoing basis to emerging needs and new instructional techniques and technologies.
