The castle was built in 1812 by the 1st Earl Somers to resemble a traditional Welsh border fortress and the castle still remains the home of his direct descendants the Hervey-Bathurst family. The castle is 10 minutes from the M50 and one hour from Birmingham, Cardiff and Bristol. Castle manager Simon Foster said: "We are very excited at the prospect of launching Eastnor Castle as a new, prestigious and exclusive training venue at the 2005 World of Learning exhibition. We have already established Eastnor as a successful meeting and conference venue and feel we can now extend our expertise and high class service to the training market as well." Facilities available at the castle include a projector screen, internet access points, telephone points, OHP, flip charts, stationary and administrative support. The day rate of £75 per person (for a minimum of 20 guests) also includes mineral water, coffee, afternoon tea with homemade biscuits and a finger buffet lunch. For small groups wishing to stay overnight, the castle has 11 bedrooms. The World of Learning conference and exhibition takes place on 15th and 16th November at the NEC in Birmingham. Eastnor Castle will be exhibiting on stand B130.
